Cello performer and instructor in Amarillo, TX
Noah Littlejohn is a graduate of West Texas A&M University. He has been the assistant principal cellist of the Amarillo Symphony for six years. During his time at Amarillo High School, Noah was selected for the Texas All-State Orchestras in 2007-2009, placing second chair overall in 2009. He earned the Texas State UIL Outstanding Soloist award in 2007, also performing with Texas Tech faculty as a 2007 Texas Tech Band & Orchestra Concerto Competition winner. Noah was the 2009 Grand Prize Winner of the Amarillo Symphony Guild’s Young Performers Competition, earning the opportunity to solo with the Amarillo Symphony and performing the first movement of Haydn’s D Major cello concerto as part of a subscription series.
In September 2011, Noah was invited to perform the Schubert Double Cello quintet with current and former members of the Harrington String Quartet. In the summer of 2012, Noah attended the Brevard Music Center summer festival as a merit scholarship recipient. As a recipient of the Harrington String Quartet scholarship, Noah has studied string chamber music performance with members of HSQ faculty, performing concerts at WTAMU and for community events around the area. Noah is also a recipient of the Don and Sybil Harrington Academic Scholarship and the Showcase scholarship.
Noah maintains a busy performance schedule and has served as principal cellist for many area ensembles, including Amarillo Opera, Chamber Music Amarillo, Amarillo Master Chorale, Arcadia Music Ensemble, and as the viola da gambist for the Matilda Gaume Early Music Consort. Noah teaches private lessons and also coaches members of the Amarillo Youth Orchestras and WTAMU Chamber Music Camp. In his free time, Noah composes original music and gives solo performances and presentations at schools and long-term care facilities. Noah currently studies with ‘cellist Emmanuel Lopez and is pursuing a master’s degree in cello performance.
